What is the TOEFL iBT?
The TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test) assesses the abilities of a non-native English-speaker with an intermediate to an advanced level to understand and speak English for academic purposes.
Why should I take this test?
TOEFL results are required by more than 4,400 Anglo-Saxon universities in their admission procedure for international students – the student’s level in English is taken into account during the procedure.

Who takes the TOEFL iBT test measures your ability to use and understand English at a university level. It also evaluates how well you combine your reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills to perform academic tasks.

What are the advantages of the TOEFL IBT?
The TOEFL test offers 50 examination dates per year in authorized test centers around the world. You can retake the test as many times as you wish, but you cannot take it more than once in a 12-day period.
More than 10,000 colleges, agencies and other institutions in over 130 countries (including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States) recognise TOEFL scores.
- The test is available in more than 4,500 centres worldwide and in 23 centres in France – Stralang is an authorised test centre in the Alsace region.
- The processing of answers is highly secured and completely reliable; the test results are therefore confidential.
The test in detail
There are two types of TOEFL exams but the TOEFL iBT (internet-Based test) is the most widespread and is the one being used by Stralang Institute; it is a 4-hour exam (40 minutes for training and 3h30 for the exam). There are 4 parts to the examination:

There is no passing or failure in this exam. Each section is linked to a result between 0 and 30; the maximal result is 120. Each institute is free to determine its minimal required score for entry.
Results are valid for two years and you can take the exam as many times as you wish. TOEFL iBT results are recognized in more than 8,500 institutions in 130 countries.
