Visit of the Alsatian museum in Strasbourg with our students.
The Alsatian Museum offers visitors a charming journey through old Strasbourg residences linked by stairs and wooden walkways. It presents thousands of objects that bear witness to rural life in Alsace in the 18th and 19th centuries: costumes, furniture, ceramics, toys, religious and secular imagery, etc. Reconstructions of interiors characteristic of different “countries” of Alsace (agricultural plain, vineyards, Vosges mountains) and craftsmen’s workshops punctuate the visit of this museum.
Several rooms are fairly faithful replicas of rural interiors, like that of the Stùb (common room) of a farm in Wintzenheim, others more imaginary like that of the kitchen and especially the pharmacist-alchemist workshop.
To breathe new life into the collections, the Alsatian Museum always organizes numerous events and exhibitions that highlight its constant concern for linking past and present, tradition and modernity.
